About Melissa
Melissa O'Donnell has dedicated more than two decades to social work and behavioral health, and the through line of her entire career has been a deep commitment to the patient experience, making sure people feel seen, heard, and genuinely supported at every step of their care.
Melissa holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Providence College and a master's degree in Clinical and Administrative Social Work from Rhode Island College. She is also a Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) through the Beryl Institute, a recognition that reflects her sustained focus on how care is experienced, not just delivered.
Before joining Northeast Family Services in 2022, Melissa spent 23 years at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, where she led departments ranging from clinical social work to patient experience. Her work touched areas including maternal health, trauma, and family preservation, and she has been recognized with multiple awards and published articles that have helped shape new care models across the field.
As Executive Vice President, Melissa oversees clinical operations across all four states Northeast Family Services serves. She brings both the clinical depth and the operational experience to make sure the organization delivers on its promise to every family it works with.
