When a client is struggling, the fastest path to the right care is a provider who already knows who to call.
Northeast Family Services partners with pediatricians, primary care physicians, schools, hospitals, and social workers across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and New Hampshire to make the referral process as smooth as possible. Our goal is to be the provider you trust to take good care of the people you send us, and to keep you informed along the way.
Why Providers Refer to Northeast Family Services
We hear from referring providers that a few things set us apart:
- Fast intake. Our team responds to referrals within one business day, and most clients are seen within the same week.
- Broad service coverage. We offer in-home therapy, outpatient therapy, ABA, therapeutic mentoring, medication management, and virtual therapy. Most of what your clients need, we can provide.
- Multi-state reach. We operate across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and New Hampshire, so you can refer clients regardless of which side of a state line they live on.
- Insurance coverage. We accept Medicaid, and most major commercial insurance plans, which means fewer barriers for the clients who need us most.
- Communication. We follow up with referral sources to confirm receipt and provide updates once a client has been assigned to a clinician.
Who We Work With
We actively partner with:
- Pediatricians and primary care physicians looking for a trusted mental health referral partner
- School counselors and special education teams working with students who need services beyond what schools can provide
- Hospital discharge planners coordinating follow-up care for clients leaving inpatient psychiatric settings
- Social workers and case managers connecting families to community-based support
- Other mental health providers looking for a partner for services they do not offer
How to Make a Referral
Referrals can be submitted through our online referral form or by calling our intake team directly at 774-206-1125. When you submit a referral, our team will:
- Confirm receipt of the referral within one business day
- Contact the client or family to complete intake
- Notify the referring provider once the client has been assigned to a clinician
You do not need to complete a complex form or provide a clinical summary to get started. A basic referral with the client's name, contact information, and reason for referral is enough to begin the process.
